The Sun Inn, Hulverstone 2nd October 2010

We had another truly enjoyable night at the Sun Inn in Hulverstone on 2nd October. We played a slightly heavier set than usual - just a tad! It was pouring down, so it was good to see plenty of people braving the weather and the big puddles on the Military Road to get there!

We tried out our new tiny monitor and it proved a great success - all the better for our backs and squeezing ourselves into tiny places... no we are not contortionists

We're looking forward to our next gig back there on 27th November

Gigs - August 2010

We've had a good run of gigs lately, playing at Harry's Bar in Shanklin on 27th August and the Sun Inn in Hulverstone on 29th August 2010. The Sun gig was a party so we played a marathon session from 8p.m. til 11.30 p.m., and once more West Wight was up dancing and partying the night away.

A gig that will stay with us was the 'I Do' Festival on 21st August 2010. The weather was not great, but it didn't spoil the fun or the wedding day for Sam and Dave. They had arranged their own mini festival - complete with camping, wrist bands, childrens entertainment, disco, singers, Zumba dancing and 5 bands, with The Bees topping the bill. In fact there was too much to mention and this was a real feat of organisation for the couple who managed to set it all up in only 2 weeks!!! Amazing!! Did I mention it was fancy dress too?

Sadly for us it lashed it down during our set - it was surreal playing 'Staying Out For The Summer' when everyone was getting soaked. Widget Productions had set up a big stage, but the prevailing wind meant our gear did get a little damp.

Our set had to be shortened, as everything was running late and we had very little time to check our set up. It was great to watch the Bees - what a talented bunch they are, and thoroughly nice blokes too.

We're now having a bit of a break whilst Nige goes gallavanting round the States. We have a private party when he gets back and then our next public gig will be back at The Sun Inn in Hulverstone on Saturday 2nd October. Hopefully see you then

The Sun Inn, Hulverstone - 7th August 2010

Roland was squeezed into the corner at The Sun Inn in Hulverstone last night. No we haven't got rid of Jason (yet ) but we have welcomed his new electronic drum kit which allows us to squeeze into smaller spaces and play a little more quietly....well, at an appropriate volume!

Our set was a bit more of a party set than our usual pub set. We got off to a slightly ropey start (or was it just me?) after a slightly stressful time setting up the gear... thank goodness it was local! We made a few changes to the set as we went - the cowbell on Roland wasn't playing the game and I hadn't managed to crib up on one song. We also had to add quite a few more in at the end - well done to Nige for thinking on his feet, my mind always goes blank.

It was geat to see so many familiar faces but also many new ones. There was some fantastic dancing going on - we have some slick movers in the West Wight, and what's more they weren't all women!!!

We finished later than planned - it seemed no-one wanted to go home, including us. Thank you to everyone who came along and made the night such a good one for us.

We're hoping we didn't disturb the neighbours too much and look forward to a return gig on Saturday 2nd October 2010.
